Jonathan Young and Ninja Brian: “Best Band in the Universe” Music Review

Jonathan Young teams-up with Ninja Brian for the “Best Band in the Universe,” a single from Young’s upcoming music album Starship Velociraptor. Known for his many covers of band, movie, and cartoon songs, this one is an original with an animated music video.

Simon Macko aka Shoocharu did the animation of the music video. It is pretty cool and the designs for everything are pretty awesome. The performance features a song by the band Galactikraken, “the Best Band in the Universe” and “NOT just Jonathan Young pretending to be several aliens from the future.” Shoocharu brilliantly animates their antics as they play their rock and roll across the galaxy. I especially liked the designs for the captain and for Ninja Brian.

As for the song, it is fun, epic, and yeah it definitely rocks. It is a bit more vulgar than some of his songs, but I cannot say that it did not have me wanting to partying along with Galactikraken. Ninja Brian’s entrance was pretty funny and I thought he added a fun anecdote to the song. I also thought that part of the music video had a few humorous moments as they “rocked out” to the guy who saved the universe with rock and roll.
