Anne Wilson: ‘Kentucky Fried Christmas’ Music Review

Country singer Anne Wilson released her Christmas EP ‘The Manger’ in 2021. The album featured the bluegrass special “Kentucky Fried Christmas.”

Anne Wilson has a very powerful voice. Whenever you hear that she is coming up, you know that you are in for a treat. The same is true for this holiday special. Using that bluegrass tang and a country backbeat, this song is a celebration of Christmas. It is so much fun and has a perfectly composed sound that takes us to Middle America with a holiday twist.

The lyrics speak of a Christmas time with a family who keeps it loud. They read the story of the Nativity, they decorate the halls, they enjoy meals together, and they open gifts with a whole lot of fun. As I have said in other reviews, I do like somber Christmas ditties, but I also like ones that are a celebration. Christmas should be a time for family and we tend to forget that. This song is a fantastic reminder of that.

Anne Wilson explained about her EP, “There’s something just so special about the night that Jesus was born. He came to earth in such a humble and lowly way and His love was on display for all of us to see. I’m so grateful for this project and I hope these songs bless you this Holiday season.”
