Music Review- for King and Country: Joy To The World

The singing duo Joel David Smallbone and Luke James Smallbone make up the Christian pop-rock band for King & Country. On their Christmas album A Drummer Boy Christmas, they released their version of “Joy To The World.”

One of the greatest hymns ever written, the song tells about the excitement about the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is a celebration of the salvation of the world. With this in mind, I am always wary of a version that slows it down, making it more of a ballad. With this in my mind, for King & Country does a fantastic job of bringing out the sense of joy that the world has hope.

They use their unique style of rock to tell this story and bring the song to a new generation. They bring that sense of joy and hope with them. Joel and Luke are very talented and they pour that talent into this heartfelt version of this Christmas hymn.
