Zac Efron is sprouting his wings from teen flicks and trashy comedy films to true crime biopics with the release of the Joe Berlinger directed feature Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Berlinger (who also directed the popular Netflix documentary) crafted a cast that surprises in its focus. It will include Lily Collins (who plays Bundy’s longtime girlfriend).
According to Geek Tyrant, Netflix signed a deal to purchase the distribution rights from the film company Voltage Pictures. This is a bold move which saw the preferred transfer of power from traditional movies houses to a streaming service. It will certainly make fans of horror, true crime, and even biopics happy that they will be able to avoid a disturbing and ever growing fee to see if Efron can pull off a legitimately serious roll.
