Writer Tom King and artist Tony S. Daniel work together for the conclusion of the “Beasts of Burden” story-arc in the DC Universe series Batman. Following the assassination attempt on Nightwing by KGBeast, the Dark Knight heads to Russia (as seen in issue 56). The two enemies are about to square off in the cold reaches of Siberia.

Juxtaposed with a strange and horrifying folktale (Marc Buckingham and Andrew Pepoy), Batman and KGBeast have an intense and violent battle as the Dark Knight does not seem to want justice for Dick Grayson’s predicament, but bloody vengeance. It is rare to see Batman lose control like this (though not surprising). The story is told extremely well and it keeps you on the edge of your seat as the climax comes around.

In Batman Annual issue 3, titled “Father’s Day,” is written by Tom Taylor with art by Otto Schmidt. In the story, we see Batman working with Alfred

in tracking down a madman who is using drones to do attacks against Gotham City. It explores the relationship between the two and their relationship outside of being butler and billionaire-by-day / vigilante-by-night. It is much difference than the story above and shows a lighter side to the world of the Dark Knight.
