Taylor Swift: “Fortnight” (featuring Post Malone) Music Review

Taylor Swift released her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ which features the song “Fortnight.” She is joined in that number by singer Post Malone.

The song is well produced and does a good job of utilizing Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s talented voices. They blend well together and the song is very well composed. I do have an issue with the message of the song. It is about a man and woman who had an affair for two weeks. I found that incredibly gross that it glamorized that sort of behavior. Hopefully, this was a story told to Swift and it is not from personal experience.

I will say, I thought the music video was very good. It was shot in black and white which, believe it or not, made it pop. It shows Taylor jumping from story to story with Post Malone, culminating in an escape from a mental hospital and a scene in the rain. We also get to see actors Ethan Hawke and Joshua Charles during a shock treatment scene.

It is not Taylor’s best as far as lyrics, but she can sing.

Check out the music video below:

“When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music. Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it,” Swift wrote on social media.
