Sledge X: Kenny Loggins’ “This Is It” Cover Music Review

Alfonzo Rachel drops a new rock cover, this time for the soul song “This Is It” from Kenny Loggins. “Just me putting a Sledge Edge on A Gen-X Jam,” Zo said in the description.

“This Is It” is a song that won Loggins several accolades and one remembered by his fans. Zo nails it with the rock cover, showing off his guitar and drum skills. While I am not prepared to say this cover is better than the original, it was definitely a pretty cool homage.

I thought the arrangement of the musical instruments made the vibe of the jam work together perfectly. Zo’s vocals also brought his cover to life and made it a perfect song to work out to or if you are going on a cruise.

Check out the music video below:

“This Is It” was debuted as a single in 1979 and released with his album ‘Keep The Fire.’The song reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 17 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

It would later go on to win “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance” at the Grammy Awards in 1981.

Loggins would dedicate the song to his father saying, “As I played it for him in his room, tears came to our eyes, we held each other and silently I knew he’d be alright. My father lived four more good years before suffering kidney disease created by lack of blood flow, and died in 1987.”
