#AmReading- Levon’s Trade By Chuck Dixon

Chuck Dixon is well-known as one of the best writers when it comes to action, noir, and comic books. He has covered popular characters like Batman, The Punisher, Snake-Eyes, and Conan the Barbarian. Now he takes on a revenge thriller with ‘Levon’s Trade.’

Levon Cade is a retired black-ops soldier living a regular life in Florida and trying to keep custody of his daughter following the death of his wife. With his wealthy in-laws trying to drain his finances in the custody battle, he is approached by his boss with a proposition. His boss offers him enough money to save his own kidnapped child. A desperate Levon agrees only to find himself entangled in a dangerous conspiracy involving a gang of ruthless Eastern European thugs.

If there is one thing that Chuck Dixon knows, it is how to tell an action back story with suspense and thrills. I would have liked to have seen a better resolution for the guy who originally hired him, but outside of that, the story honestly feels like his old tales from the Batman and Punisher days of writing. He lets the story of Levon Cade hit all of the notes as far as the novel, showing off Dixon’s trademark skill.
