DCU ‘Absolute Power’ Special Edition Comic Book Review

DC Comics released a special edition of Absolute Power which was written by Mark Waid and drawn by Mikel Janín. I picked it up for Free Comic Book Day.

The terrifying AI known as Failsafe has taken over Batman and his operation. To make matters worse, he has allied with Samantha Waller of Task Force X to help her take down the Justice League. When the villain Haywire finds himself in their hands, the Clock King agrees to be his guide. Meanwhile, how do ordinary bullets stop Superman?

Janín does a fantastic job with the artwork. I have to say that he did an amazing job with the character illustrations and the interiors. It looked fantastic. That goes the same for Dan Mora who did an excellent job with the cover art. We see the Trinity: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman juxtaposed with Failsafe, Brainiac, and Amanda Waller. It was excellent.

As for the story, you can tell Mark Waid has lost his edge since Kingdom Come. I mean, seriously touching on the whole “Batman was replaced by Failsafe” was a poor decision. Whoever is editing Batman stories these days is doing horribly and it needs to be made clear. Also, the overuse of Task Force X is starting to get old. I wish DC Comics would let their writers move on from that team. It has gotten so old.
