Sabaton: “Thunderstorm” Music Review

From their 2007 album ‘Metalizer,’ the heavy metal band Sabaton dropped a lyric video for their song “Thunderstorm.” They released a new version of the song for their 25th Anniversary.

Thor. Before he was an Avenger, he was the Prince of Thunder wielding a mighty hammer and sporting a magic belt in Nordic mythology. He is an important figure in the Norse pantheon as he is one of the sons of Odin and brother to the mischievous Loki.

Sabaton delivers an epic song that tells of his many battles against the giants. The band describes his powerful thunder and how, when you hear it, you know the battle is already over. It is a story song that has some cool lyrics and excellent rhymes.

The arrangement of the music is fantastic. They all play with such talent. I usually do not enjoy metal, but these guys shred in this epic way. They deliver a good rendition of the saga of Thor with those instruments, giving you the urge to fist-bump along the way.

The lyric video is pretty sleek as well. It is made like a webcomic which shows Thor gathering his hammer and preparing for battle. We see the roving Swedish landscape and giants ascending on it, but they are met by the Prince of Thunder himself. Very cool.
