‘The Amazing Digital Circus’ Episode 2 Review

From Gooseworx comes the web series The Amazing Digital Circus, a surrealistic comedy thriller that is available on the YouTube channel Glitch. I normally do not review individual episodes of a show outside of the pilot, but I am making an exception for this series.

Pomni (Lizzie Freeman) is still having trouble adjusting to life in the Digital Circus. Ragatha (Amanda Hufford) is trying to reach out but to no avail. The ringmaster Caine (Alex Rochon) sends them along with Kinger (Sean Chiplock), Gangle (Marissa Lenti), and Jax (Michael Kovach) into a new game where they have to rescue a candy kingdom’s maple syrup. An encounter with an NPC puts things into perspective for Pomni.

Episode two “Candy Carrier Chaos” does not show a lot of world-building and relies more on what was said in the pilot. As such, things are a little confusing. I followed the basic plot, but I was lost in the circus. Outside of Caine having seemingly a ton of power, we do not know about it. I hope that further episodes expand on the lore a bit.

Outside of that, I did enjoy the episode. It was chaotic, fun, and had fantastic animation. The character designs are sublime, elevating each one and helping them feel unique. I also want to applaud the voice actors. Each person does a fantastic job and I hope the cast stays the same for the duration of the show. I am looking forward to seeing what is next.
