Drake Bell: “I Kind Of Relate” Music Review

Drake Bell drops his new single “I Kind Of Relate.” The song and music video dropped ahead of his album ‘Non-Stop Flight.’

The former teen idol, Spider-Man voice actor, and musician recently opened up about the abuse he suffered from a trusted mentor. With this song, he pours his heart and soul, singing about how he has been looked over because of his own past mistakes. The lyrics were tragic to listen to as he sings about how he found love in Mexico and that is why he is heading there. I do not blame him, quite frankly. I do like that he takes responsibility for his own mistakes and wants to make it right.

The music video follows his career, tying his near-fatal car crash to how he was silenced as a victim until finally ending with saying goodbye from an airport. It was creative and added to the impact of the song. It is sad and sobering, but truly worth listening to.

Bell said on social media when it was released, “New music video for my song “I Kind Of Relate” is out tonight. For those who might not get some of the references in the video. This was my car accident. I was stopped at a red light and someone fell asleep at the wheel and hit me head on at about 60 mph. I broke my jaw in three places fractured my neck and lost 9 teeth. My jaw was wired shut for six months. Luckily I was driving a 1966 Ford Mustang and the strength of the car kept it from crushing in on me saving my life.”
