Five Mother’s Day Bible Verses For 2023

Mother’s Day is one of the most important days of the year. I am blessed to have such a wonderful Mom in my life. They are truly a gift from God. As such, I thought I would share these five Bible verses for Mother’s Day.

For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your MOTHER,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his MOTHER, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God. – Matthew 15:4-6

Honor your father and your MOTHER so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. – Exodus 20:12

The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a MOTHER will be picked out by the ravens of the valley and eaten by the vultures. – Proverbs 30:17

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and MOTHER” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” – Ephesians 6:1-3

Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your MOTHER when she is old. Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and MOTHER be glad; let her who bore you rejoice. – Proverbs 23:22-25

Mothers are a great gift. Take some time to call your mom, grandmother, aunt, or whoever the woman in your life is who took the time to stand in that place. They are wonderful and amazing.

Scriptures are taken from the ESV.
