Charity. It is a word that every Christian knows. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, the Bible tells about giving to others who have less than you. It is a sacrifice, but one that God will reward you for if you show some grace, kindness, and even some mercy to your fellow man. Here are 10 Bible verses on charity:
“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” Proverbs 19:17
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16
If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? James 2:15-16
“Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” Ephesians 4:28
“Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse.” Proverbs 28:27
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
“We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3
“If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.” Isaiah 58:10
“Let brotherly love continue.” Hebrews 13:1
“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9
