How does God see His followers? It is a question that has haunted Christians for many years. Fortunately, the Apostle Paul gave us an answer in his epistle to the church of the Ephesians. He reminds us that we are his “workmanship” or as some Bible versions say “masterpiece.” Here are my ten favorite translations of Ephesians 2:10.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. (NASB)

Instead, we are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives. (CEB)

We are His work. He has made us to belong to Christ Jesus so we can work for Him. He planned that we should do this. (NLV)

For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them. (HCSB)

We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it! (TPT)

For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath ordained, that we should walk in them. (GNV)

We are born afresh in Christ, and born to do those good deeds which God planned for us to do. (PHILIPS)

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (NIV)

For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago. (VOICE)

God has made us. In Jesus Christ God made us so that we can do good things. He planned that we should live that way. (WE)

BONUS

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (NLT)
