Celebrating 10 Years Of StudioJake

“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney

I posted my first post on June 29, 2012. Today marks ten years since that post. A whole decade later, I have written so many articles, entertainment reviews, news pieces, and pop culture commentary that it seems like my a good portion of my life was spent typing these pieces.

Let me tell you, it was tough. There were times when I felt I was writing too much and times when I did not always write as much as I should have.

There were moments when I became discouraged so I would stop writing for months at a time or would just share someone else’s post. That was a mistake. I should have just kept going and going, despite the discouragement. It was nothing, but me feeling sorry for myself when I was in a slump. Self-pity is never the way to go.

Deciding enough was enough, I hunkered down and challenged myself to write at least once a day and make it to one thousand posts by my 2016 birthday. To help accomplish that, I expanded the topics I was writing about. Instead of focusing on one or two subjects, I would bring my commentary to a plethora of topics, so my readers could have a buffet of posts to read. Spoiler alert, I made it to one thousand posts. That was the first real milestone that I met.

It was tough and I did it myself. Aside from encouragement, I did everything myself. I sat through films, read the books, watched the show, dove into anime, and I listened to music. That came with a lot of research. I’m not trying to pat myself on my back, but I feel a little bit of accomplishment for reaching this goal.

Now ten years later, things have changed and my writings have evolved. My style has matured and I am ever more expanded. I now have two vidcasts that are available on multiple video-sharing websites. I am verified on several social media platforms. I have interviewed movie critics, religious leaders, filmmakers, actors, actresses, authors, artists. I have gone to movie premiers, comic book expos, and anime conventions. There were ups and downs, tears and fears, losses and wins.

No matter the topic, I hope that each article brought some entertainment, knowledge, inspiration, or encouragement. If you have been with me since the beginning or just now joining me, thank you. You make this possible and don’t worry, we are just getting started.

Here’s to another ten years.
