Celebrating Memorial Day in 2016!

Memorial Day is a special time to remember the soldiers who fought and died to keep the United States of America a place for freedom, liberty, and hope. Because of these soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice, we can live the American Dream knowing that the Constitution is secure. A good way to remember this is through music. Here are 5 Songs For Your Memorial Day Playlist:

“Star Spangled Banner”

Whitney Houston delivered this amazing rendition of the National Anthem and it was spectacular. It was a beautiful version of this song delivered from a beautiful soul.

“Letters From War”

From his album ‘Stories & Songs’ of Curb Records, Mark Schlutz tells a story of a soldier off fighting in World War 2 who writes his mother while he is overseas. When the letters stop, she begins to worry.

“Travelin’ Soldier” (Home Free Cover)

Originally written and performed in 1996 by country music artist Bruce Robison, Home Free delivers a patriotic performance about a young soldier who writes to a hometown friend.

“Some Gave All”

Billy Ray Cyrus dropped this Grammy-Award-winning song on his debut album in 1992 where he pays tribute to the troops. Critics hated it, but it soon went platinum.

“Ragged Old Flag”

A veteran himself, country singer Johnny Cash would often perform this 1974 tribute to the troops on patriotic holidays and on USO tours.
