As reported by a Live Action News article, ‘Obamagate‘ movie producers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer producers were set to do a Verbatim Theater performance of ‘Gosnell‘ titled ‘Oh Gosnell: The Truth About Abortion’ a pro-life stage play. It is meant to rival “Oh God, A Show About Abortion” a pro-abortion a solo act starring Ilana Glazer (‘Broad City’) and produced by ‘The Force Awakens‘ director J.J. Abrams.
McElhinney and McAleer announced on social media that the off-broadway stage Theater Row had decided to censor the play based on “safety concerns” and “inappropriate” content.
“This is just a ridiculous attempt to silence pro-life conservative voices in art and culture,” the filmmaking duo said. “Despite paying for the production, (Theater Row) decided to pull the plug on the production by sending us a threatening and factually inaccurate legal letter. They claim that the play is inappropriate for young audience.”
They also made note that the theater has put on many other stage performances that some could consider “controversial,” including ‘Hitler’s Tasters.’
“What this all boils down to as artistic censorship. (Theatre Row) doesn’t want the truth about abortion to be told to their audience,” they added. “This is a huge setback, but the show will go on at a new venue.”
“I do want people to go and see both [plays] and to come to their own conclusions, which is something that Theatre Row wants to rob the people of – this ability to hear all the facts. What are they scared of?” McAleer said in a Fox News interview.
The performance of ‘Oh Gosnell: The Truth About Abortion’ is now moving to Manhattan to the Chain Studio Theatre, according to an Unreported Story Society article.
Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer are also working on the film My Son Hunter which will feature Star Wars actress Gina Carano and British star Laurence Fox.
