D. James Kennedy: “The star of Bethlehem was a star of hope”

D. James Kennedy (November 3, 1930 – September 5, 2007) was an American evangelist, pastor, radio host, author, and leader of Coral Ridge Ministries. Throughout his life, he would buck political correctness, criticizing communism and preaching the Gospel. He was even inducted into the National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2005. Throughout his career, he made several amazing statements. Here are my top 10 favorite quotes from D. James Kennedy:

“Christianity has answers that are not only satisfying for the soul but also satisfying for the mind…” (Skeptics Answered, 2005)

“You cannot say, ‘No, Lord,’ and mean both words; one annuls the other. If you say no to Him, then He is not your Lord.” (1997)

“Christian bashing is alive and well on college and university campuses also. In fact, it’s ever more direct and overt because Christianity is not ‘politically correct.’ Never has been. Never will be.” (1997)

“… if one believes that evolution is true, then we are simply the product of time and chance and there is no morality and no intrinsic worth to human life.” (2005)

“The star of Bethlehem was a star of hope that led the wise men to the fulfillment of their expectations, the success of their expedition. Nothing in this world is more fundamental for success in life than hope, and this star pointed to our only source for true hope: Jesus Christ.”

“Communistic evolution, according to the Senate committee that examined it, is responsible for 135 million deaths in peacetime. There’s no religion that has a tiny fraction of that many deaths on its conscience. There are scientists who will admit that there’s not one iota of scientific evidence to support it.”

“The sleeping giant that has lain prostrate across America is beginning to wake itself.” (1981)

“Christianity teaches that the human race is depraved, fallen, and sinful.”

“Indeed, there is an attack against things Christian in America. We see it in the movies, on TV, in the schools, in the universities, in the public arena, in the courts, and even within some church circles. (1997)

“The time for letting the Christian bashing go on essentially unchallenged has come to an end…”
