5 Anime For ‘Lord of the Rings’ Fans

Warner Media might be planning in their own anime-styled adaption of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s ‘Lord of the Rings‘ with ‘The War of the Rohirrim,’ but there is not a lot for fans of Middle-Earth to look forward to. Amazon Studios ‘The Rings of Power‘ shows all of the promises of a soap opera. Not to worry!

You can explore outside Middle-Earth to find heroic battles, giant monsters, magical items, swords, and more! Especially if you explore anime. Obviously, none are as good as LOTR, but there are so many titles to explore in this style, you can find heroes being heroes and watch them take down the bad guys. In no particular order, here are 5 Anime For ‘Lord of the Rings’ Fans:

RADIANT

Based on the French comic from Tony Valente, the Japanese production studio Lerche brings to life the story of Seth and his friends as they search for “Radiant,” the mysterious home of monsters called Nemeses that have been plaguing Pompo Hills.

BLACK CLOVER

This one is based on a manga written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata. It tells the story of Asta is a young orphan who dreams of becoming the “Wizard King” of the Clover Kingdom. There is just one problem, he has no magic powers, though he has the Five Leaf Grimoire. His adopted brother Yuno gets recruited into a prestigious magical knight squad, but Asta gets recruited to the Black Bulls, a group of oddballs, rejects, and weirdos.

NARUTO

Follow the life of the young shinobi Naruto, whose soul houses a monstrous nine-tailed fox. Shunned by society, you watch him grow into a “gutsy” ninja that battles some powerful foes and prove himself in this world called The Land of Fire and beyond. This ninja-fantasy is written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto.

TALES OF ZESTIRIA THE X

Based on a video game, this story follows Sorey who becomes the “Shepherd” in the world of Glenwood. This allows him to become the bridge between humans and spiritual beings called Seraphim. Together, they can stop monsters called Hellions who are using a magical force called the Malevolence to corrupt humans, creatures, and Seraphim alike.

FAIRY TAIL

The anime is based on a series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. It follows the wizard Lucy Heartfilia in Earth-Land, the newest member of the wizard guild Fairy Tail. She is joined by the dragonslayer Natsu (seen above), his cat sidekick Happy, the ice user Grey, magical knight Erza Scarlet, and a host of other members as they fight monsters, demons, evil wizards, rogue dragons, and so much more.

While nothing can compare to Lord of the Rings, perhaps these shows will tide you over as we await to hear news of what is coming in regards to Middle Earth.
