
The United States Football League (USFL) is bringing its inaugural playoffs and championship game to Canton, Ohio at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
“The playoffs will begin Saturday, June 25, as the top two teams in each division face each other in the league’s semifinals. The final two teams will play in the inaugural USFL Championship Game on Sunday, July 3,” the USFL said in a press release.
USFL Executive Vice President of Business Operations Edward Hartman explained, “We’re excited to play our first playoffs and championship game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.”
“It’s a beautiful stadium with all the facilities necessary to host football at the highest level, and we look forward to crowning our first champion in the shadow of the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” he added.
The regular season will be played in Birmingham, Alabama at either Protective Stadium or Legion Field with eight teams from two divisions competing for those playoff games and championship in Ohio.
The North Division includes the Pittsburgh Maulers (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), The New Jersey Generals (New Jersey), The Philadelphia Stars (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and The Michigan Panthers (Michigan).
The South Division includes the Houston Gamblers (Houston, Texas), The Birmingham Stallions (Birmingham, Alabama), The New Orleans Breakers (New Orleans, Louisiana), and The Tampa Bay Bandits (Tampa Bay, Florida).
The USFL upcoming 2022 season kickoff on April 16, 2022 with the games being broadcasted on NBC and Fox.
