Anthem Lights singer Caleb Grimm and Kelsey Grimm tag-teamed a husband and wife project in the form of the 2019 ‘Christmas Worship Album.’ This time, the two of them are delivering “Christmas Amazing Grace” which changes the lyrics of the classic hymn to celebrate this holiday.
One commenter on the YouTube video said, “A great spin on Amazing Grace — lovely words and a new meaning for this classic hymn. . . Beautiful harmony in all of their songs . . greatly blessed by God with this talent, and good to see them using it to sing His praise.”
I could not agree more.
Their rendition of this classic hymn is not as good as the original, far from it. That being said, how they meshed it together with Christmas is very well done. They kept the heart of the song being about Jesus but refocused on his miraculous birth. I found it endearing and perfectly well done for Christmas.
I also liked the music video. Like many of their videos, they tend to keep it simple, just showing them sitting and singing. They did that here too and I am glad because it kept the song in focus instead of what they were doing. It was smart and classy, adding to the ambience of the song.
