‘Batman: The Adventures Continue’ S2 Issue 6 Comic Book Review

DC Comics presents ‘Batman: The Adventures Continue’ Season 2, continuing with issue 6. Paul Dini and Alan Burnett are writing the story with Ty Templeton handling the artwork.

Batman and Robin stop some criminals where the sidekick comments that the Dark Knight is acting “surly.” Gotham City Mayoral candidate Hamilton Hill Jr. asks Dick Grayson for Bruce Wayne’s endorsement against corrupt candidate Emerson Mayfield, but Batman refuses. Instead, Barbara Gordon embeds herself into Mayfield’s campaign as Batman chases after Clayface, though the Arkham inmate has a mysterious alibi.

I do like this story arc of Batman fighting an antagonist from the past. Mayfield, as a “plain clothes” villain, shows how unique he is and definitely provides all of the excitement you could want. Dini and Burnett do a good job of bringing back the vibe from Batman: TAS. That goes for the artwork, this time done by Ty Templeton, who does a great job of capturing the look and feel of the show.

Now, I do wish Clayface would have had more time to morph. He does every now and then, but I think it would have been cool to see a bit more. He always gives artists an opportunity to show off their creativity. That is my only point of criticism. Otherwise, this series is better than anything DC Comics is putting out as far as Batman.
