Newsboys: “Ain’t It Like Jesus” Music Review

Ahead of their album ‘Stand’ comes this newsboys song “Ain’t It Like Jesus.” The number definitely illustrates how the band remains a household name.

The song has an uplifting beat and encouraging lyrics. It tells of how Jesus can turn around a situation, even if it feels like a loss. They definitely bring out their A-game in how the song expresses itself and that goes for the music as well. You can tap your foot, fist bump, or bob your head as the beat and the tune brings out what the song is all about. It has an exhortation and we all know that we need that these days.

That also goes for the music video. It is simple, a backdrop of a photo coming from an instant camera, and the image turns into the band performing the song. I thought that was a nice touch, working well with the vibe of the number.

I grew up on newsboys music and maintain my collection from the days of John James and Peter Furler as the frontmen of the band. I do like Michael Tait as the new lead singer, but I feel as though it is almost a different band. Their “United” tour brought back some of those old feelings, but now that it has concluded, it feels back to a different vibe. Please note, I am not saying it is bad, just different.
