BRZRKR issue 2 is the next chapter in the twelve-part series meant for mature audiences from actor Keanu Reeves and comic publisher Boom Studios. It is written by Matt Kindt and drawn by Ron Garney.

Following issue 1, the Berzerker is speaking with a military doctor who is trying to figure out his origin so the US Defense Department can replicate his immortality. We learn that his mother became pregnant with him in ancient times after an encounter with lightning. From there, he develops a keen sense of hunting and combat, leading him to save his clan, much to his father’s appreciation.

As stated before, this comic book is for a mature audience, so observe the rating. It is gory with a tone of violence and brutal death. Do not think it is for kids.

Garney illustrates all of the character designs with excellence, especially the Berzerker. I particularly liked the flashback sequences where we see ancient times and a clan desperate for survival. His talent brings this to life.

As with the previous issue, the story is brutal. We see a young boy who just wants to please his father evolved into a weapon and how that affects him in the modern days. They do a good job of showing his weariness and his readiness to end his days as a weapon. It is bold, unique, and well-written.
