Eric July: “Let It Slide” Music Review

Eric July, known for his pop culture commentary on the YouTube channel YoungRippa59, drops the new single “Let It Slide” from his upcoming mixtape ‘Rap Circle’ from his band BackWordz.

I will be honest, I am a total normie when it comes to rap music. My favorite music is rock, so I came into this project with barely any experience in that genre. Fortunately, you do not need much. July and Backwordz do an excellent job with this song. It jams with ease and a song you can enjoy. July brings all the heat as he raps away about standing up for something you can believe in.

It was refreshing, not that corporate sound that has infiltrated the entertainment industry. I have a feeling more folks will be turning to indie music like July as record labels cave to social media mobs.

July is so confident, with reason, in his music that he is giving ‘Rap Circle’ away for free with an optional purchase when it is release on May 18th.

“For those that don’t know,” he writes. “…this tape was something that my band (BackWordz) promised considering the success of the first album. This is the first rap-only project I’ve done in over decade. The tape is free with optional purchase.”
