‘Ardanna‘ issue 0 gets new life in the Legendary Edition, a successful crowdfunding campaign from writer Wyatt Holliday and artist Dean Flores. It is now part of the Authentic Comics publishing.
Ardanna is a mighty woman warrior who is able to take on more than one opponent at a time. She recruits a former thief into her band in order to “hunt a monster,” violently breaking him out of prison. Meanwhile, Nestor of Nikias is being hunted by thugs from Mithrabor and makes a daring escape with a minstrel in order to find Ardanna. As Ardanna and Nester head out on their respective missions, a darker force enters the land when two foolish girls accidentally it.
As the first issue, it definitely left me wanting me more. As far as comics, I tend to lean toward the action and science fiction tales more than the sword and sorcery. However, Ardanna had me hooked. It reminded me of the comics from the nineties and early 2000s when fantasy books were told through the comic book medium. Both the artwork and the story had me hook and begging for more. I am proud that I supported the campaign and I cannot wait for the next entry.
