In the “Tournament of Power” saga in Dragon Ball Super, Goku faces off against some of the most powerful opponents from across the various universes. Japanese music artist Akira Kushida’s “Ka Ka Kachi Daze” appears in the final round. Jonathan Young covers the English version “Ultimate Battle.”
Jonathan Young does a good job of bringing a pop-rock twist to this song. In the tournament, Goku manages to break into a new form called Ultra Instinct and he uses that help him fight the monstrously powerful Jiren, his final opponent. If they fail, Universe Seven will be destroyed. Young captures the moment and the battle for survival that Goku and the rest of his team, including their enemy Frieza, find themselves in.
The cover does a good job of translating the song and making it a cool pump-up anthem. You definitely relive the moments from the anime as the characters of Dragon Ball Super come together in order to make a wish with the dragon balls.
