The Disney Afternoon was an unbeatable television block that showcased Disney’s animated TV shows from the 90s. In some markets, it aired as the “Block Party.” It was a way for those of us without cable to catch some of our favorite zany animated characters that were coming around the bend. With the shows, came their intros. Here are my Top 10 Best Disney Afternoon Theme Songs:
10. Quack Pack
Donald Duck and Daisy became news anchors and travel the world with Donald’s nephew Huey, Duey, and Louie. This, of course, led to a lot of antics, including Donald becoming king of a kingdom stuck in medieval times.
09. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Technically, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and the rest of the friends of the Hundred Acre Wood aired in the Canadian version of the block party, but it is worth mentioning since the silly old bear delighted the hearts of many children.
08. Bonkers
An out-of-work toon joins the police force only to irk his human partners, but there is no one better to solve the mysteries and crimes surrounding Toon Town and its wacky residents.
07. Good Troop
Set up like a sitcom, Goofy and his son Max live next door to used car salesman Pete, his son PJ, and the rest of his family. Fun fact, Pete aka Pegged-Leg Pete is Disney’s oldest villain.
06. Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers
Chip and Dale work together with their team to save people from villainous clutches.
05. Gargoyles
The Gargoyles are brought to New York City to protect it from supernatural forces. It was a bit darker than the usual Disney cartoon, but boy was it action-packed and loaded with Star Trek actors.
04. The Mighty Ducks
From an alternate dimension, these hockey-playing humanoid ducks not only are champions on the rink, but they also are superheroes who protect the Earth from nefarious forces.
03. Darkwing Duck
“Let’s get dangerous.” Come on, who doesn’t love a good pastiche of Batman? Drake Mallard, his adopted daughter Goslin, and his sidekick Launchpad McQuack have to protect Saint Canard from FOWL and other villains.
02. TaleSpin
This Disney intro pumped you up for all manner of adventure when it came to Baloo, Kit, and the rest of the Jungle Book gang, including famed Air pirate Captain Don Karnage.
01. DuckTales
From his mansion in Duckberg, Scrooge McDuck, his nephews, and their friends take off on new adventures to find treasure and outsmart bad guys who want to fund their evil schemes.
