Because everything is stupid, a bunch of bored SJWs went after ‘The Magnificent Seven‘ star Chris Pratt. Why? Well, no one really knows. He wore a shirt with the historical “Don’t Tread On Me” flag. He taught his son the Pledge of Allegiance. He is a Christian.
For some reason, these things are offensive to the bored social media mob who have nothing better to do but engage in cancel culture.
Anyway, the fervor started when it came to light that Pratt declined to attend a fundraiser for a particular presidential candidate with a few of his other Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars including Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, etc. Terrifying, right?
Fortunately, several of his co-stars stepped up to defend him.
Robert Downey Jr. wrote on Instagram, “What a world… The “sinless” are casting stones at my #brother, Chris Pratt… A real #Christian who lives by #principle, has never demonstrated anything but #positivity and #gratitude… AND he just married into a family that makes space for civil discourse and (just plain fact) INSISTS on service as the highest value. If you take issue with Chris,,, I’ve got a novel idea. Delete your social media accounts, sit with your OWN defects of #character, work on THEM, then celebrate your humanness…”
Mark Ruffalo also stepped in calling Pratt a “solid man,” adding “I know him personally, and instead of casting aspersions, look at how he lives his life. He is just not overtly political as a rule. This is a distraction. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, friends. We are so close now.”
Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Zoe Saldana joined in by quoting Tupac and then saying, “You got this (Chris Pratt). Your family, friends, colleagues & everyone who’s ever crossed paths with you knows your heart and your worth!” Additionally, she was attacked for defending him. Weird.
That is a stand-up group of friends. However, not all were happy that some colleagues stood up for the Onward actor. YouTuber Grace Randolph dropped this gem:
“I will say that his coworkers shouldn’t defend him because he did this to himself, and he’s the only one who can get out of it. So they’re taking hits for nothing.”
She is attacking Pratt’s fellow celebrities for defending him from a nothingburger? He simply chose not to go to a political fundraiser. It is worth noting that Benedict Cumberbatch is not slated to appear. If the mob goes after him, will she be as apt to be so critical? Doubtful.
The truth is, Chris Pratt chooses to just be himself. While he is very open about being a Christian, he rarely speaks about politics. Let him be private about it. No one should care how a celebrity votes. It is out of touch commentators who are pushing the SJW mantra of, “No one can be apolitical.” Whatever. Cancel culture is silly and even if I make fun of or disagree with a celebrity’s opinion, I would not censor them for it.
Let it be.
