DC Comics writer Tom King continues his bizarre conspiracy plaguing Gotham City. Bane and the ‘Flashpoint’ Thomas Wayne version laid out a masterful plan to break Batman’s heart, mind, and finally his body. In ‘The Fall And The Fallen,’ Batman learns of this conspiracy spanning issues 70 (seen above), 71, 72, 73, and 74. Warning, there are spoilers
Breaking off the ‘Knightmares‘ machine, Batman goes on a rampage through Arkham Asylum, into the streets of Gotham City, and signals all of his team, but it seems no one believes that a conspiracy comprised by Bane and the dark Thomas Wayne. Robin, Batwoman, Red Robin, Batgirl, and others try to help Batman, but it goes nowhere. It all leads to a showdown between Batman and Bane in Wayne Manor and between Bruce and Thomas in the desert. This does not turn out well for the Batman.
This story is very confusing. For one thing, while Bane’s motives are clear (he wants to break Batman and take Gotham), the other Thomas Wayne’s remain dramatically unclear throughout this arc, until the last two issues, but it just leaves you scratching your head. While the artwork was good, the story itself drags on with this plot that has gone on WAY too long.
