AnimeExpo 2019

Los Angeles has so many engaging and exciting conventions to attend when it comes to nerds, geeks, techies, fangirls, and fanboys. For those who love anime and manga, there is AnimeExpo, which I was happy to attend this year.

Going on the second day of the AX2019, it was a bit overwhelming. They literally had anything you could think of. Cosplay costume contests, photo-ops, gaming, trading cards, comic books, manga, and, of course, anime. It was sensory overload but in a good way. There was nothing that you could not find. Virtually every popular franchise had some sort of appearance. New shows like Fairy Tail and cult classics like Cowboy Bebop were on display sometimes in big, massive banners or small tapestries, but their presence was known.

Of course, longtime fan favorites like Robotech made huge announcements regarding their franchises and promised new things to come. Besides Macross, Funimation announced that My Hero Academia will be returning in the Fall after a successful film release and a much-needed hiatus for the staff.

My only complaint is that the event was somewhat disorganized. They allowed the Artist Alley to become overcrowded, so much so that it you could not move through aisles. Later, as the festivities were coming to an end, they made it extremely difficult to get back to your parking place. Though these seem like minor annoyances, it was incredibly frustrating as four different event staffers sent you to four separate exits before finally making you walk around the LA Convention Center. That is some Goku level training right there.

That being said, it was incredible to see the new anime, video games, art, TV shows, animation, manga, movies, and so much more that will be released this year and beyond. No, I did not feel an earthquake while I was there.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments below. Tell me if there is a comic book, movie, or novel you would like me to review. While you are at it, check out my adventures at Comic Con Revolution and Anime Pasadena this year. Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more posts like this one.

Did you know my new fantasy novel “The Seven Royals: All Good Things” is now available on Barnes and Noble and Amazon? You can get your e-book copy at BookLocker.
