Based on the DC Comics story-arc which was written by Jeph Loeb, with art by Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment announced in an exclusive release to IGN that Batman: Hush is getting a film adaption.
For those of you unfamiliar with the series, after a mysterious battle with a Poison Ivy-controlled Superman, Batman has a showdown in Gotham with Killer Croc which leaves him seriously injured. He calls on his old friend Tommy Elliot who is a surgeon. After his successful recovery, all of Gotham’s rogues engage in a systematic attack on the Dark Knight. Batman’s only clue is that a mysterious villain called Hush is behind it. However, as the crimes get more and more personal, including the murder of Elliot, Batman realizes that Hush knowns his identity.
The movie stars Jason O’Mara as Batman and Maury Sterling as Hush, with Jennifer Morrison, Jerry O’Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Sean Maher, Rainn Wilson, Bruce Thomas, Peyton R. List, and Stuart Allan.
A film based on the series was teased by Batman: TAS voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill in 2016, but this film appears to be a part of the DC Animated Movie Universe, which includes Teen Titans: The Judas Contract and The Death Of Superman. By the looks of the trailer, it seems they are sticking close to the story, although Killer Croc is not mentioned in the cast list. One thing that will be interesting to see if they will include Jason Todd and Tim Drake. Both have small but important roles in the plot of the comic book, but while Jason has only been hinted at, Tim Drake has not appeared or been mentioned at all with Damian Wayne and Dick Grayson having had the most prominence in this DCAMU.
That being said, the movie’s trailer is pretty cool and if the film is as epic as the graphic novel, it will be epic. Check out the trailer below:
