Marvel Comics brings us their latest event in ‘War of Realms,’ written by Jason Aaron with artwork by Russell Dauterman. It combines science fiction and fantasy in a new way with all of your favorite Avengers, rallying together to take a stand against dark forces.
Malekith the Accursed of the Dark Elves has a battle plan. After posing as Loki to lure Thor to Niffleheim, he descends onto New York to engage in a battle to over Midgard. At first, the Avengers and their allies try to stave off the dark forces but find themselves overwhelmed. As a result, they decide to divide and conquer by sending various Avengers to other realms to stop the invasion.
One of the reasons I enjoy Marvel Comics more DC Comics is DC focuses on grandiose story-arcs and tragedy in its writings. As for Marvel, they allow high fantasy and science fiction concepts to create something more readable. In fact, if Batman was Marvel, I would be all Marvel Comics. This story’s kick-off is one of the reasons why. It is excellent and well-written. Jason Aaron is a brilliant writer, as Ultimate Captain America proves, and he crafts this story in an excellent manner. I cannot wait for the rest.
