‘Batman: The Long Halloween’ Is Finally Getting A Film

One of my favorite Batman story-arcs is finally getting a film adaption, at least in animated form. The minds at DC Comics and Warner Animation are adapting The Long Halloween, the series-turned-graphic novel written by Jeph Loeb with art by Tim Sale.

According to Comicbook.com, the film will feature an ensemble cast. Troy Baker, Jensen Ackles, Naya Rivera, Titus Welliver, David Dastmalchian, Jim Pirri, Amy Landecker, Matthew Gray Gubler, Katee Sackhoff, and Fred Tatasciore have all been announced to be in the movie, though their roles have not yet been revealed and there is no word on who will voice Batman.

The film will not be set in any continuity, but will be standalone similar to Gotham By Gaslight. It will be divided into two parts, but no word yet on a release date.

I am very excited for this adaption of The Long Halloween. This is one of the classic Batman stories, taking place in his early days as the Guardian of Gotham. It involves a serial killer called Holiday who is systematically murdering members of the Falcone Crime Family. This is giving rise to villains like the Joker, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, and others to take over Gotham City. Batman, Commissioner Gordon, and DA Harvey Dent team-up to solve this crime.

Hopefully, the film will be better than other previous adaptions. While DC Animated films have been better than live-action, they have had a few misfires, but I am holding out that it will be a decent movie, especially if they get Kevin Conroy to be voice Batman. Are you listening WB?
