Comic Book Review- Avengers Issue 7-8

The 2018 Avengers comic book series from Marvel got off to a fantastic start. I reviewed issued on StudioJake. Issues 7 is written by Jason Aaron and Sara Pichelli with Aaron returning for 8 this time with David Marquez.

The former focuses on the origin of Ghost Rider, but not a modern one. Instead the very first person to allow the curse of Zarathos to be manifested within him way back into pre-historic times. This one does not ride a motorcycle or a muscle car. Instead, this ancient Ghost Rider uses a mammoth as he battles the Wendigo, the beast that killed his tribe. This is the origin of the Ghost Rider and the first of many.

Number 8 shows the modern age Avengers, using the body of a frozen Celestial as their new headquarters. Black Panther is chosen as the new chairman with Cap training the new Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Iron Man squaring off against Captain Marvel, while Dr. Strange and Thor tries to find a way for She-Hulk to control her rage. As they build their new base, Namor leads an attack.

This new series is just what the fans needed after a year of diversity writers trying to force SJW tropes down our throats. Hopefully, this return to form with the Marvel Universe will stick so us nerds and geeks can get back to enjoying our comic books, especially such great characters like the Avengers.

While I was hesitant about this new line-up, I do think the fact that it is so eclectic works in its favor. The art is superbly done by Justin Ponsor.
