Fox Studios dropped the trailer for Dark Phoenix, the latest installment in the X-Men franchise. Hopefully, it will bring to life The Dark Phoenix Saga produced by Marvel Comics and written by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. Now that Disney has acquired Fox, Disney President Bob Iger says that Marvel Studios plans to merge the X-Men into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. With that in mind, what stories should be adapted in the new normal.
Here are my thoughts on the Top 10 X-Men Stories For Film Adaptions:
Schism – Cyclops and Wolverine have a falling out after M Day. As a result, Wolverine starts the Jean Grey School for Mutants.
Asteroid X – Magneto builds a new place for mutants to live away from Earth. Unfortunately, he is betrayed from within his own ranks.
House of M – Scarlet Witch alters reality where Magneto has conquered North America. Wolverine somehow realizes something is amiss and recruits a combination of the Avengers and X-Men to stop them.
Onslaught – After Professor X mentally attacks Magneto, he somehow absorbs his evil personality. Though Prof. X manages to expel the entity, he becomes known as Onslaught and leads a vicious assault on New York until he is stopped by the Hulk.
Spider-Man and the X-Men – Peter Parker becomes a substitute teacher at the Jean Grey School for Mutants, but he’s secretly there to locate a traitor within the ranks of the students.
Mutant X/Proteus – Unrelated to the mutant show on the WB (RIP), Moira MacTaggert’s powerful Mutant son begins to cause suffering on their home of Muir Island. She calls for the X-Men for help.
Operation: Zero Tolerance – After the death of a presidential candidate is blamed on mutants, the government re-institutes the Sentinel program to battle the X-Men.
Mojo Vision – An alien from an alternate dimension, Mojo kidnaps the X-Men and forces them to fight in gladiator-style games in order to survive.
Legacy Virus – The Mutant community is blamed after humans become infected by a mysterious virus. The X-Men investigate and discover a vast conspiracy.
Phalanx Covenant – An alien race of cyborgs come to Earth and infect a group of Mutant-haters, allowing them to go toe-to-toe with the X-Men.
