Bumblebee Trailer Shows Transformers Are Returning To Form

The Transformers live-action film franchise has been suffering under the direction of Michael Bay. The sad thing, he is not that bad of a director. However, it became clear after Dark of the Moon that he was not even trying. It seems after The Last Knight that Bay has finally passed the reigns over to Travis Knight, whose first and only feature film was the animated Kubo And The Two Strings.

I have to admit, I did not really know what to expect from Paramount Films. The teaser trailer for Bumblebee was released a few months did not reveal enough other some awesome special effects to get me excited.

On Monday, they released the first official full length trailer that gave us a good look at the cast. It stars Hailee Steinfeld as Charlie Watson a human who befriends the lost Autobot known as Bumblebee. John Cena plays an agent of Sector 7 who is trying to capture the Transformer. It appears that the movie will be a prequel, taking place in 1987. Now, through various scenes, we see a classic Generation One version of Optimus Prime (again voiced by Peter Cullen) and an old school Soundwave appears as a Decepticon.

If the trailer is any indication, it looks like this movie will return Transformers to its roots. A robotic science fiction adventure that takes viewers into space, exotic places on Earth, and beyond. Hopefully, that will be the case. I enjoyed the trailer a great deal and as a fan of the original series, Beast Wars, and several of the spin-offs, I’m looking forward to this one.

The question on everyone’s mind is, is this a true prequel or is it a reboot? Whatever the answer, hopefully this will be the Transformers movie the fans deserve.
