Movies are a tricky thing. You have viewers who have to look at a film from fifty different layers and try to examine the underlining philosophy of it. Me, I just want to know if it is entertaining or not. After that, I’ll look over the “deeper meaning” or whatever. That being said, this year, I did enjoy some pretty fun, good, and great movies. In no particular order, here is a list of my favorite films of 2017.
Moana– This new Disney adventure showed us the Pacific in a whole new way.
The Case For Christ– This tells the story of Lee Strobel, who went from religious skeptic journalist to a Christian apologist. No one complain about this film being cheesy.
Teen Titans: The Judas Contract– An adaption of the comic book plot of the same name, this animated feature brings it into the modern day.
The Fate Of The Furious– The ongoing saga of The Fast And Furious films continues as Dom is forced to betray his family.
Spider-Man Homecoming– The web-slinger is back in action following the emotional Captain America: Civil War. Thank goodness Peter Parker is still in the suit. Good call by Disney and Marvel Studios.
Wonder Woman– This film starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins is still the most epic of the DC Comics films.
The Resurrection Of Gavin Stone– This fun, charming comedy has all the makings of a family feature film.
Wind River– Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen take a break from avenging to solve a mysterious murder.
Ghost In The Shell– I know I’m a minority, but I enjoyed this film based on the anime of the same name.
Blade Runner 2049– While the movie had flaws, like a lot, it was still an enjoyable science fiction sequel.
Justice League– While not as epic as I was hoping, I did enjoy seeing Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman coming together.
Star Wars The Last Jedi– Not bad, but not great, this film continues the saga of George Lucas’ masterpiece.
Runner-Up Favorite Film
Dunkirk– Christopher Nolan brings together an incredible war movie with a fantastic score and exhilarating action.
Baby Driver– Edgar Wright brings us this fantastic film that should sweep the Academy Awards, though it probably won’t.
That is my list. What do you think? Let me know in the comments which films you would like me to review this year. While you are at it, check out my Top 10 Films I’m Looking Forward To In 2018. Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more posts like this one.
