Music Review- The Chainsmokers and Coldplay: Something Just Like This

I do not review a whole lot of mainstream music artists. I prefer to do artists like Lindsey Stirling for “Prism,” though occasionally a song like Taylor Swift’s “Out Of The Woods”” will interest me enough to garner a review. However, the Chainsmokers partnering with Coldplay to make this song Something Just Like This” is nothing short of pure genius. It is one of the most incredible songs I have heard in a long time.

The lyrics describe a man who tells his girlfriend that he is not a superhero like Batman or Spider-Man, he is just a regular guy. The girl replies that she is not looking for a superhuman, but just someone who loves her. It is an enthralling take on love. Instead of relying on sex, it talks about other important aspects of love like understanding, listening, and appreciating one another for who they are. Of course, everyone should grow and aspire to goals, but I liked how this song places reality over fantasy.

I hope that the two bands create a music video for it. That would be amazing. They could have scenes with the Justice League or the Avengers if their respective parent companies would play nice, of course. You never know how it would go, but I think it would be cool.
