I Saw The Light is a biopic film about the life of country singer Hank Williams, who died too early. It is directed by Marc Abraham and stars Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Olsen, Cherry Jones, Bradley Whitford, Maddie Hasson, Wrenn Schmidt, and others.

Hank Williams is a young singer who marries Audrey Sheppard, a divorced single mother. It follows the early days of his career and into his second marriage to Billie Jean.

It shows his dream of performing for the Grand Ol’ Opry and how his alcoholism costed him his job, his family, and his wealth. However, it follows his return as he sings his way into the hearts of families across America through his powerful voice and the sincerity of folk music.

Tom Hiddleston is a fantastic actor. No one can argue that. However, I think he was not right for this role. He did not look like or sound like Hank Williams. (I know the singing was dubbed or at least heavily edited.) An American actor would have been far more in place in this role.

Outside of that, the film was truly great. It was well written and put together. The music was inspiring. He could write and sing with an incredible voice.
