CS Lewis not only mastered fantasy novels with his Chronicles of Narnia series, he also mastered science fiction and steampunk in this little known series know as The Space Trilogy.

The first book is titled Out Of The Silent Planet. It tells the story of Dr. Elwin Ransom, who is kidnapped by a Dr. Weston and Dick Devine and taken in a space vessel to Mars. He escapes and finds that the natives call it Thulcandra. He finds a
primitive and almost infantile race that could be easily conquered. He must stop his captors before they destroy this society and it’s too late. Or is it out of his hands?

This is a fascinating story of a planet whose society is not corrupted by evil. Lewis does an incredible of inventing this culture and presenting it in a realistic way.
