Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music. -Ronald Reagan
I posted my first blog post June 26, 2012. Today, after four years of blogging, I have written so many blog posts that it seems like my life was spent typing these things up.
It was tough and I did not always do write as much as I should have. At times, I became discouraged so I would stop writing for months at a time or would just share someone else’s post. That was a mistake. I should have just kept going and going, despite the discouragement. It was nothing, but me feeling sorry for myself when I was in a slump. Self-pity is never the way to go.
Deciding enough was enough, I kicked it into high gear sometime last year. I challenged myself to write at least once a day and make it to one thousand posts by my 2016 birthday. I expanded the topics I would write about. Instead of being bogged down with one or two subjects, I would bring my thought to a plethora of topics, so my readers could have a buffet of posts to read. Spoiler alert, I made it to one thousand posts. That is a milestone.
It was tough and, despite what President Barack Hussein Obama said in 2012, I did it myself. I had no help. I did have encouragement, but I did all the work alone. I sought after stories. I wrote poems. I did the research. I saw all those films and listened to all of those songs. I’m not trying to toot my horn, but I have to admit I’m patting myself on the back just a little bit for accomplishing this goal.
I hope that each article brought some entertainment, knowledge, inspiration, or encouragement.
I want to thank all of the women who participated in my interviews as well as all of my faithful and loyal readers who have stuck with me. Thank you!
Now, I am going to celebrate my birthday. I am a Texan, so I will be eating barbecue steak. I am nerd, so I am going to buy a comic book. I am a writer, so I am going to write. I am a husband, so I am going to kiss my wife. That is how I am going to celebrate.
Help me celebrate by sharing, re-blogging, and reading some of my older posts. Be sure to subscribe to read more upcoming articles. Do not forget, August is Texas Month, so grab yourself a Dr. Pepper and some chili (with no beans) to celebrate.
Those are my thoughts. What did you think? Let me know in the comments below and tell me if there’s a movie you’d like me to review. Check out my author bio while you’re at it. Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more posts like this one.
