Music Review- Newsboys Love Riot

newsboys love riot

Featuring the hit single “Guilty,” Love Riot is the newest album from the contemporary Christian rock band known as the Newsboys. The current line-up is lead singer Michael Tate, guitarist Jody Davis, drummer Duncan Philips, and keyboardist Jeff Frankenstein.

“When I speak from stage, I often talk about love,” Michael Tait told the Christian Post. “Darkness has been so prevalent in our culture. Let’s have a love riot — it’s time.”

“I think God for whatever reason has had his hand literally on this band. The great thing about Newsboys is that it’s never been about one guy…the lead singer, the lead drummer or whatever,” Philips added. “It’s always been about something greater than the sum of its parts. We just want to play our part to make His name great.”

Guilty is not the only great song on this album. The title song, Family of God, Committed, and many others are truly amazing. This album really brings it all together. I still think they sound like a totally different band from when John James and Peter Furler were the frontmen, but they did they sound excellent. This particular album brings out their skill and talent. I enjoyed it a great deal and had a good time hearing their heart.
