Star Wars Fans Can Be So Ungrateful

It is sad, but true. Star Wars fans are some of the most ungrateful, greedy fans in all of fandom.

If anything, fans of Joss Whedon’s Firefly have more to complain about than Star Wars folks do,yet all we get is yammering from hipsters who think they know better because they saw the VHS cut of the Original Trilogy once.

Let’s start with the hypocrisy. I agree that Jar Jar Binks from the Prequel Trilogy is a very lame character, but so were the Ewoks from the Original Trilogy. Let’s be real, they are just as lame. Yet, heaven forbid you speak ill of Return of the Jedi. Also, the complaint about midiclorians, so what?

“Ooh, there’s a biological component to the Force, how scandalous!” How dare a science fiction story add more sci-fi tropes. Let me clutch my pearls.

You know, I did not hear Prequel haters complain when the Star Wars: Clone Wars television series had both Jar Jar Binks and the midiclorians prominently featured. Hmm, like I said: hypocrite

How about effects? After the practical effects of the Original Trilogy, you wanted digital effects. You got that in the Prequel Trilogy. Then you complained about it. Make up your mind! Did you want CGI and special effects or practical?

Yes, I wished we could have seen Anakin Skywalker portrayed by a less wooden actor in Attack of the Clones, but it was what it was. It was not as bad as Batman & Robin. Now, that was a disaster and they had a so-called, but overrated A-lister to play Batman.

Thanks to you Prequel haters, we did not get an epic in The Force Awakens, we got A New Hope remake. I hope you are happy. JJ Abrams gave you a film, not the one us true fans wanted. It was good, but not great. Check out my review of it.

Now with Episode VIII, guess who Disney is getting to direct. No, it’s not JJ Abrams, it’s Rian Johnson. Guess what his contribution to science fiction is: Looper. What? David Zucker was unavailable? Once again, thank you, Prequel haters. We couldn’t have Peter Jackson, Karyn Kusama, Clint Eastwood, Christopher Nolan, or any other epic director. We get a rookie.

I will say this: Colin Trevorrow is directing Episode IX. I do think he will do a good job. He’s a very talented director and I believe that film will be the one we all want.

Back to my rant, George Lucas is a brilliant storyteller, but now you ungrateful Prequel haters have chased away the man who created one of the greatest film franchises of all time. Anytime the original creator abandons it, it only gets worse. And by the way, Lucas did not ruin the franchise with the Prequel Trilogy. He just brought it into the twenty-first century. He should be applauded not ridiculed.

That is my opinion and I welcome yours. Feel free to comment below and tell me what you think, especially if you agree with me. Don’t forget to click “follow” on the side menu!
