First Year In #NaNoWriMo

This is it, faithful readers! This is my first year, as an author, to participate in National Novel Writing Month. It starts November 1st and I am very excited to be a part.

The reason I haven’t participated in the past is not because of arrogance, but because I was not published, I felt I was not a real writer. However, after reading encouraging blogs and newsletters from Kristen Lamb, Michelle Griep, and Jerry B. Jenkins, I realize that I am a writer. Writers write. I write all the time. I’ve got novels I’m working on and this amazing blog!

A lot has changed and I encourage my fellow writers to join in on NaNoWriMo. 50,000 words in a novel is the goal. They don’t have to be good words, just well enough to make a coherent story. It can be any genre you like! Just go for it.

I will be posting updates all throughout the month of November (minus Thanksgiving week) and I hope you share what you’re doing in the comments.

Let’s do this together, fellow writers!
