When Sega was king, they introduced one of their flagship characters onto the market with Sonic The Hedgehog. The character lives on a planet similar to earth where he battles the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik (NOT Eggman) with his friends. Such characters like Tails the Fox, Amy Rose, Team Chaotix, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Knuckles the Echidna. The games have led to several television shows, OVAs, as well as comic books. Sonic’s status as an icon is undeniable. Here is a list of the top 10 best Sonic the Hedgehog games.
10. Sonic the Hedgehog- The game that started it all came out in 1991 on the Sega Genesis. It premiered the title character battling Robotnik.
09. Sonic CD- This game introduces Metal Sonic and Sonic’s on-again/off-again romance with Amy Rose.
08. Sonic the Hedgehog 2- This one introduced the character of Tails, Sonic’s flying fox sidekick.
07. Sonic 3D Blast- Sonic travels to an island where he has to save the natives from Dr. Robotnik.
06. Sonic the Hedgehog 3- Introducing the sometimes naive, but very tough friendly nemesis Knuckles.
05. Sonic Adventure- Dr. Robotnik wants the Seven Chaos Emeralds to awaken a deadly monster called Chaos. This is one of the first games for the Sega Dreamcast. Sadly, this when Robotnik started to be referred to as Eggman in the USA.
04. Sonic Advance (and its sequels)- These games were playable for the Gameboy Advance.
03. Knuckles Chaotix- The first spin-off game, Knuckles teams up with Vector the Crocodile, Charmy the Bee, Mighty the Armadillo, and Espio the Chameleon, also called Team Chaotix to defeat Dr. Robotnik. It is playable only on the rare Sega 32X
02. Sonic Adventure 2- This one introduces two great characters Rouge the Bat and Shadow the Hedgehog to the Sonic universe. It is also the last game before Nintendo bought out Sega and all, but ruined the franchise.
01. Sonic & Knuckles- A sequel to 3, this video game allows you to play as Sonic or Knuckles as they try to save Angel Island from Dr. Robotnik.
