Earlier this month, some dear friends of mine brought their baby to church on a Wednesday night. They asked for prayer for him because the doctors had examined him and found a tumor on his hip. They made an appointment to bring the baby back because the doctor told my friends that the tumor might be cancerous. As you can imagine, they very scared.
They brought the baby to church and asked for prayer. The lead pastors and the elders gather around the baby and prayed that they would receive a good report for this couple and their baby.
It turned out that not only was the tumor not cancerous, but it was gone altogether. That is amazing!
I know somewhere out there, there are folks who say that God’s only role in this world is to give wisdom, but I do not believe that is true.
I believe that the miracles and healings in the Bible are for us today through the power of Holy Spirit. I believe that if we pray, have faith, and continue to ask that Jesus will provide. I do not know how to answer people who say that their suffering was not redeemed. All I can say is that I’ve known suffering too and while I wanted Jesus to ride in and save the day. The truth is, He can and will. In the times that He does not, I say, “Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
This is good news. Jesus still heals and He still does miracles. All we have to do is be open minded and receive. I believe in the power that raised Him from the dead can work in me. He is where I put my hope.
John 14:12 (HCSB) I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.
