Today is my 25th Birthday, and to celebrate, I decided to make a list of the 15 different nonfiction books that literally inspired me through the years. This is no where near a complete list, but these are the books that have helped motivate me, to overcome adversity, to grow spiritually, mentally, physically, and to be the best I can be.
Shine: Make Them Wonder What You’ve Got by the newsboys- The band discusses what motives them day by day and how God has changed their lives.
Winning With People by John Maxwell- The author talks relationships and how they can help build leaders.
Against All Odds: My Story by Chuck Norris- The action star partners with Ken Abraham to tell his story that takes from Asia to Hollywood and finally onto television.
Dreaming With God by Bill Johnson- The Senior Pastor of Bethel Church in Redding, California discusses about how God partners with our imagination to make great things.
A Grief Observed by CS Lewis- Lewis keeps a very personal diary regarding the death of a loved one. It puts grief and depression in a very powerful light. The book talks about how to overcome it.
Born to Create: Stepping Into Your Supernatural Destiny by Theresa Dedmon- My mentor talks about how there is a creative side to every person.
Culture Of Honor by Danny Silk- Mr. Silk describes how you can live by showing honor to others, even if they do not necessarily deserve it.
On Writing by Stephen King- Looking to find a book that explains the writer’s life and gives you sound advice? Try the master of horror’s advice for crafting your novel.
The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel- The Chicago journalist goes on a journey interviewing various witnesses and experts on the who Jesus Christ is and how He changed the world.
Jesus Culture: Living a Life That Transforms the World by Banning Liebscher- The director of Jesus Culture talks about bringing the generations together for Jesus Christ.
A Novel Idea by Various authors- Several Christian authors like Jerry B. Jenkins, Francine Rivers, Randy Alcorn, Karen Kingsbury, and others share their advice on the writing craft.
Quiet by Susan Cain- Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak, are all introverts. Mrs. Cain talks about how introverts are not to be underestimated.
Experiencing the Father’s Embrace by Jack Frost- The book talks about healing wounds through seeing God as Father.
The Art Of Fiction by Ayn Rand- The author of Anthem and We The Living gives her advice on crafting good fiction. She talks about the books that inspire her and she writes her own novels.
Me, Myself, and Bob by Phil Vischer- The co-creator of Veggie Tales and the voice of Bob the Tomato tells the story of how he started out as a poor computer artist to later create one of the greatest children’s shows of all time.
