10. X-Men: Evolution-
Meant to show the X-Men when they’re younger, the first seasons showed the plight of the mutant students as they struggle to maintain their secrecy while the later seasons focused on them living in a human’s world. The show did a great job transitioning out of the high school angst into the battle for survival. It was also the only time Cyclops was cool.
9. Men in Black-
While the first season was lackluster, Kid’s WB quickly remade the series and made it more stream-lined and modern. The battle to protect the Earth from aliens lived on in this series.
8. X-Men Animated Series-
While darker in tone than most animated series at the time, this 90s television show will be remembered for bringing the X-Men back to popularity. The series followed many of the villains including Magneto, Mr. Sinister, and Apocalypse.
7. Superman: The Animated Series-
This series brought Superman back to his roots as a symbol of truth, justice, and the American way. DC has long forgotten what the Man of Steel stands for, but this series helped us remember.
6. Iron Man: The Animated Series-
Part of Marvel’s line of series that came out in the 90s, this series focused on the Force Works comic series that had Iron Man as a leader of a superhero team similar to the Avengers. While not great animation wise, it definitely was one that will be remembered as Iron Man and his team battled Mandarin and his miscreants.
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)-
This series stayed true to the Mirage Studios roots. It made the Ninja Turtles darker and grittier while maintaining the humor that was brought on by the first three films. The later seasons Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers were not great, but the film Turtles Forever will always be remembered.
4. Justice League/Justice League Unlimited-
The first two seasons focused on the founding seven, while the last two seasons focused on the growth of the League becoming more of an anthology series. It is truly one of the best series to come out to date that truly encapsulates the spirit of the comic books.
3. Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes-
This series brought the Avengers back to their classical roots. They strutted across the globe to find and captured villains that had been broken out of all of SHIELD’s prisons. Season 2 focused on the Avengers dealing with the upcoming Skrull secret invasion.
2. Spider-Man: The Animated Series-
This is another series that brought a hero back to its roots. It utilized lasers and future technology to make a more post-modern series, but it is awesome! You could hear Spider-Man’s thoughts as he battled crime and Stan Lee even had a cameo at the end of the series.
